Hello my dears and happy Monday to you all!

We're on the last leg, the last week before the holidays are here. Yep, Christmas is coming! After the last few months of madness I am so ready for it I can tell you! Not that I'm quite ready for it in other ways though as there is still a bunch of things to sort out - a huge pile of washing that has accumulated recently is taking up today's entire to do list, a wee bit more floor painting still needs to be done, there are still the presents to organise and I haven't even thought about sending cards yet! But despite the list of things not yet done there is a sense of relief coursing through my mind and body right now. This weekend we got to move back into our bedroom again... whoop, whoop! No more sleeping in the living room with the hum of traffic lulling us to sleep or being rudely awoken by late night early morning revellers passing by. You know that feeling of sleeping in your own bed again after travelling for a while? The sense of relief, comfort and security? It kinda feels like that. The chaos and stress are subsiding while the familiar regains control again. I like familiar. It feels especially good just now and with all my fingers and toes crossed I hoping it will last a wee while, through the holiday break at the very least!

Tomorrow I might even have time to think about the festive decorating and fish out our little plastic tree from the back of it's cupboard! I did do a wee bit of festive thinking over the weekend and ordered some of these gorgeous paper snowflakes in grey and white. Aren't they fabulous!? I can't wait for them to arrive! A couple of weeks ago I started crocheting a few tiny gold stars which will make a gorgeous garland to contrast with these snowflakes, I'll show you later. Can you tell I'm still on my neutrals kick at the moment!? I'm not sure how long it will last because I've just remembered the multi-coloured, mini glass baubles I picked up last year! We'll see...

Anyhow, I am rambling on and haven't even mentioned today's festive inspired favourites from 'making everyday beautiful'! Thank you to the wonderful Ilaria for the inspiration! Aren't these blues so pretty!? Between the grey clouds and hail stone showers the skies over Edinburgh have been this colour today. Right now as the sun is setting there's barely a cloud in the sky which is fading to the prettiest pale aqua. The softest tone that you only really see in the winter... beautiful!

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend!?

Today I just couldn't help myself with this chocolaty festive theme for my 'making everyday beautiful' picks! Monday's are always better with chocolate (as is every other day, of course!), but chocolate sprinkled amongst a few gorgeous seasonal delights... well, that's even better! I have to confess that one of the things I am looking forward to most over the holidays is a few days of unrestrained chocolaty indulgence. Instead of limiting my daily intake to two or three squares of the currently open bar I shall be scoffing a few of these and these that are already waiting patiently in the cupboard and hoping for lots of these and some of this and this and this and this and... I could go on and on and on, but you get the idea ;)

Seasonal colour inspiration from the X-MAS collection by Ferm Living, colour palette curated by Emma Lamb

It's not often I pick out such neutral tones as part of my 'today I'm loving' column but lately I'm finding these to be far more appealing than bright colours. Maybe it's just because I'm craving calm amongst the chaos, or possibly reflecting the paint colours I'm working with this week - wintry white and cool grey?

blog crush : Citrusandorange | Emma Lamb

I am sure many of you are already huge fans of Citrusandorange, the absolutely gorgeous blog by Susana Oliveira, but if you're not here is a wee peek of what you are missing. I know, right! So, so beautiful! I have been a long time fan of Susana's work and she has been a regular contributor to 'making eveyday beautiful'.

That festive feeling is starting to creep over me now and with all the lovely Christmassy images you've been adding to 'making everyday beautiful' recently I just couldn't resist curating this collection today...

This December I've been bringing out one decoration a day, kinda like a reverse advent calendar. So far we have a fairy light trellis and my favourite vintage baubles hanging on pretty bare twigs. However today I think it has to be the day for our wee tree and obviously more fairy lights, I'm on the hunt for some pretty neon pink ones! I haven't made a decoration yet this year and I keep thinking about paper stars...

etsy favourites : feeling a little non-traditionally festive

In my studio this week I'm crocheting up a few festive ideas with some traditionally festive colours and alongside those I'm working with some deep charcoal grey for a separate project. Today while looking through my Etsy favourites I can see that those two ideas are coming together in perfect harmony and are influencing the pieces I'm being drawn to. Maybe I should pay more attention and listen harder to my subconscious... ?

Happy, happy Monday my dear friends, I do hope you are all ready and raring to go for a lovely holiday season however you decide to spend it... :)

This is my last wee post before I sign off myself. I say 'wee' but I have gone to town with some of my most favourite festive images from 'all colours in'. Thanks to this gorgeous picture of rainingsheep's vintage bottle brush tree collection I have a new found love and desire to start another wee collection myself... :)
Also, I want to thank everyone who has been so generous with submitting their beautiful images to our 'all colours in' Flickr group all year. Putting together these 'colour your monday happy' posts every week has been so inspiring for me and I think for you too... ? You are such an incredibly talented bunch and I am honoured that you would want to share your work with not just me but our wonderful creative community too. As well as inspiring you I really do hope that these posts, and the group, have in some way helped to support your work or encourage your creativity... !? Anyway, thank you all so very much... :)

Wishing you all the most wonderful festive season and a very peaceful new year... !
I shall look forward to seeing you all back here in 2011...

Happy, happy Friday!

Can you believe there are only eight more 'sleeps' to go!? Eight more sleeps until all of that hard work and preparation comes together in a lovely crescendo of a wonderful day spent with those we love. Eight more sleeps til we can just kick back, relax and forget our worries while cooking up tasty treats and maybe watching a wee spot of christmas telly. Of course I will be maintaining a strict and extensive dog walking regime to make sure that the munching of said tasty treats is kept under control... ;) Oh, and keeping my fingers crossed for a wee flutter of snow on the day, just a wee flutter mind you... ! What will you be keeping your fingers crossed for... ?

Well, I'm almost finished blogging before the holidays. Just one more post to go on Monday morning, so until then I shall wish you all the most fabulous weekend,
Emma, x
