colour crush : Orla's winter wardrobe

Orla Kiely, Autumn Winter 2013 / favourites picked by Emma Lamb

Oh, I do love Orla Kiely's gorgeous new womenswear collection for the coming autumn and winter. The colours are just perfect, a wee bit vintage-retro in the black, red, ochre, soft tea rose pink and coffee combination but with pops of shocking pink to keep it current. Exactly what you would expect from Orla. There are the familiar signature Orla prints and dress shapes alongside some lovely autumnal textures including velvet and that sweet quilted flower design. Oh, and how fab is the pink cable knit dress!? I love the hint of a woodland theme too with the occasional squirrel appearing on a few knitwear pieces but above all that the thing I love most about this collection is that it was partly inspired by Margot Tenenbaum, a fabulous fictional character from The Royal Tenenbaums played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Such a great character and a film that is in regular rotation on my 'while I crochet' list, love it!
