Happy, happy Friday my dears, I do hope you are all enjoying your Easter holiday and are ready for some serious chocolate munching this weekend... !? I must admit I haven't bought any Easter themed chocolate yet and I'm not sure I will anyway, it seems kinda daft to pay double the cost of my usual chocolaty tipple just to have it egg shaped! Maybe I should make some grown up rice crispy cakes with some of my delicious 85% cocoa chocolate instead? Haven't had those in ages... yum!

Anyhoo, onto today's yummy colour palette... have you noticed I'm still stuck on the pink trend!? Most of the palettes I've made up over the last few weeks do feature it quite heavily. I just can't help myself, it feels so inviting and comforting. I actually made two palettes up with these lovely deep coral pinks but ended up choosing this one because of Skunkboy Creatures adorable bunny for a tenuous Easter link... ;)
I am completely in love with the top row of colours I picked out and can picture them working quite perfectly in some crocheted goodness... maybe a pretty patchwork blanket with lots of white edgings?

Wishing you all a chocolaty weekend,
Emma, x

lots of blossom and a birthday...

Hello my dears... :)

Today is such a lovely day... we seem to have never ending sunny weather, it is unseasonably warm and the blossom trees are still in full swing as the distinct lack of April showers hasn't cut them down in their prime, which can happen all too often here. This is just a wee peek at some of the prettiest ones in our local park this morning...

 height=  height=  height=  height=

Today is a very special day too... not only is there all this loveliness to be enjoyed but there is also a birthday to be celebrated as my wee man turns six today! Which means lots of singing 'Happy Birthday' and all kinds of doggy treats wrapped up in layer upon layer of newspaper. If there is one thing my wee man loves it is his food and the second thing on his list would be ripping open parcels! Often he's not hugely interested in what is inside those parcels, unless of course it is food, but he does get a ridiculous amount of enjoyment from ripping paper... :)

 height=  height=

Now I'm off to fish out those rogue pieces of ripped newspaper from under the sofa before I retreat back into my wee studio to continue with the epic tidy up... Which became so epic because I thought it was about time I had a proper clear out instead of just shuffling stuff from one place to another! I have been sorting and sifting through so much gumpf that I had forgotten I had in there, much of it left over from my designing days and a lot of which I don't think I have a need for anymore... such as a huge heat press that has done nothing but gather dust for the last couple of years! But by doing this it almost feels like I'm giving myself a fresh start and the freedom to consider new ideas..........

Wishing you all the most fabulous day,
Emma, x

Happy Monday my lovelies... :)
I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend!? It was so warm and sunny again here in Edinburgh but instead of getting out and enjoying it I was struck with the urge to do some serious spring cleaning and rearranging! As there was a severe lack of space in my wee studio for my lovely new dresser I decided to move out a few things and relocate them to more needy corners of our wee flat. Which made my Man very happy as he now has a dedicated shelf to show off all his important magic books... :) It also means that my wee studio looks like a 'craft bomb' has hit it... No prizes for guessing what I'll be doing this afternoon... ;)

Oh, and I do hope you are enjoying today's chalky pastels from 'all colours in'... !?

Wishing you all a fabulous day,
Emma, x

Happy Friday my lovelies... :)

I do hope you like today's colour palette!? I have to admit that I've had this one hanging around for a wee while, quietly waiting for it's moment to shine. Today is certainly the day! It is perfectly fitting for the grey skies and fabulous blossom trees that are all around Edinburgh this morning. These lovely soft peachy pinks and soothing neutrals are a nice reminder that springs isn't always about bright floral colours and clean sunshine shades...

So as you might have noticed I haven't quite got into a good posting rhythm just yet, my blogging mojo seems to have wandered off and got lost! Not that I've had time to notice with everything else I've been doing this week, which has consisted mostly of stacking my wee shop shelves with more lovely ladies (just a few more to go!) and lots of rubbish admin stuff. Such as sorting through piles of neglected paperwork, filing and shredding as I went and then knuckling down like a very good girl to get my accounts brought bang up to date. I know, so boring but ridiculously satisfying once it was done!

Then this morning while I was lacking in any internet connection I wisely spent my time rescuing this fabulous dresser from the street, much to the amusement and bemusement of passers by. It looks a wee bit worse for wear but mostly it just seems to be surface damage that should disappear once the varnish has been stripped back. I'm now hoping it won't rain this weekend so I can get this lovely lady out into the garden for just such a job... keep your fingers crossed for me won't you!?

I do hope you have some equally exciting plans planned for this weekend... ;)

Hello my dears, I do hope you all had a great weekend... !?
I caught up with a wee bit more rest while enjoying the sunny weather and did some all important mattress shopping... Ha! Probably not the most exciting of weekends but I can't tell you how much I'm looking froward to a new mattress arriving... :)
I also got to pick up my crochet hooks again after almost a week of non-hooking since the fair, more about that later in the week...

Now onto today's somewhat random collection of pretty images from 'all colours in'... Okay, so they're completely random and you can be forgiven for thinking I might have just gone a wee bit bonkers! The only tentative link I can see that they all have that lovely golden chicken feather colour running through them... I know, I know, a completely rubbish link! But I do love them all and I do hope they put a wee smile into your Monday... :)
Oh and thank you to Miss Tif's fabulous feathered friend for the inspiration... ;)

I do hope you all have a great day,
Emma, x

colour palette ~ spring colours...

Happy, happy Friday my lovelies...!
I do hope you have all had the most wonderful week? Thank you so much for all your kind words about my wee Selvedge stall, I really do wish you all could have stopped by for a wee chin wag... :)

As you can see I haven't yet got back into any kind of blogging routine. This week I have mostly been catching up on a wee bit of rest and filling up my shop shelves with the lovely ladies who didn't find their forever homes last weekend. I still have a whole bunch to go and am busy sifting through lots of photos just now. As usual I'll be popping the details onto my Facebook page as they land in the shop... :)

Now then, lets have ourselves a wee bit of colourful fun to end the week! If you didn't know already, Poppytalk has been running another colour week all over on Flickr and their lovely blog ~ Spring Colour Week 2011. I haven't had the time to take part myself but I did find the time this morning to mooch through all the submissions to the Flickr pool. I always keep a wee eye out for this seasonal event and I have to say that the submissions this time are super lovely, but maybe I'm biased because I'm so fond of the spring!? Anyhoo, I've pulled together a fab mosaic of my favourites and because it's Friday a yummy colour palette to go with it... enjoy!

I told you, yummy! I really can't decide if either the second or fifth column of colours is my favourite... But the top 'white' row of photographs is definitely my favourite, they are all just so perfectly spring and summer... :)

Wishing you all the most wonderful weekend,

The Selvedge Spring Fair...

Hello my dears... :)
Thank you for being so patient in waiting to hear all the gossip from the Selvedge Spring Fair. Yesterday was filled with of all sorts of nonsense including trying to arrange a plumber to fix a leaky bath, I'm still waiting and hoping they will be here soon...

Anyhoo, the fair... It was such a fabulous day, hugely busy and hectic and filled with lots of friends and chatting and sending a few of my ladies off to their forever homes with some very lovely folk. It kinda whizzed by in a wee bit of a blur, which left my head spinning and with very few photos of the day...

 height=

I arrived at 8am to start setting up my wee table in St. Augustine's beautiful church hall, which the Selvedge ladies had decorated with purple and white pom-poms and some of Amy Butler's lovely fabrics. The wee tea area, just behind my table and those old crates, looked very pretty and springy especially so once all the yummy cakes had arrived. No pics I'm afraid, I had my table set up just in the nick of time for the doors to open so it was a mad dash just to snap these pictures. But you can pop by the High Tea of Highgate website and check out their mouth watering gallery for a sampling of the gorgeous cakes that were on offer... :)

So once folk started arriving at 10am it was a non-stop busy and fun day. There was a huge turnout and I wouldn't be surprised if nearly a thousand people came through that wee church hall on Saturday! There were one or two famous faces too, with Linda Barker sending a wee ruffle of excitement through the hall and particularly the Selvedge ladies... ;)
But I think the highlight for me was finally getting to meet some of my oldest and dearest blogging buddies for the first time. The ever so lovely Miss Monda who persuaded me to set up this very blog a few years ago and the very sweet Miss Tif who was the one who helped me kick start my own wee Etsy shop soon after! It was so great and easy to chat to these two dear ladies, as though we had been friends for a long time and weren't just meeting for the first time! I must not forget Miss Fran either who I have known for a wee while and who is always so generous with her kind comments over on my Flickr pages... :)
Oh, and thank you so much to everyone else who stopped by for a wee chat including the lovely Sam of Bella Blossom and the ladies from 'the women's room' who wrote a lovely wee post about the fair yesterday, thank you ladies!
Also, I must not forget all you super sweet 'blog lurkers'... yeah, you know I'm talking to you... ;)

 height=  height=

I also had a pretty good day of sales too with the lovely Selma and Velma getting snapped up right away, as did three new Blossom garlands. Which is really great because I love making all of those and can't wait to get hooking on some new ones... :)
I do still have lots of ladies hanging around here waiting for their own forever homes so they will be finding their way into my wee shop over the next few days. Keep an eye on my Facebook pages for the updates... :)

All in all it was a fabulous and exciting day and I'm so glad I did it, it really was worth all the hard work I put in before hand and it was so great to meet so many lovely people. So I want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful Selvedge ladies, particularly Michelle Zimmer, for inviting me along. It was an absolute pleasure and I would certainly jump at the chance to do it all again... :)

Emma, x

ps ~ I think the Selvedge ladies hired a photographer to document the day so I shall keep a wee eye out for these photos and let you know when you can see them... :)
