on the mend...

...although i must say Mr Lurgy hasn't quite been booted out the door yet ~ he's certainly putting up a good fight, much to my annoyance!
...but rather than needing to sleep all day i have found a wee bit of energy for browsing a few sites and was even lucky enough to drop into etsy just in time for snagging a treasury spot :)

...last days of september ~ and the nights are drawing in fast...

...i also wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for all your kind well wishes, they were and still are hugely appreciated! i shall drop in and visit you all very soon :)
...wishing you all well too...

colour your monday happy...

...courtesy of one of the loveliest ladies in blogland, and one who i am so very pleased to call friend ~ the fabulous miss Tif, aka dottie angel, aka my right hand man in taking care of all the wonderful images submitted to our flickr groups 'all colours in' and 'granny chic', so without further ado i shall hand you over to the lady herself with her picks for this week...

...my name is Tif, and i'm delighted that Emma has invited me to guest post this weeks 'colour your monday happy'. as yesterday marked the first day of my 'handcrafted thrifty' challenge, i thought it most relevant to look through the 'always inspiring' pool and find some handcrafted and vintage goodness. here is just a small selection of what 'all colours in' has to offer when it comes to 'be still my beating heart' crafty, vintage loveliness...

...i hope this burst of colour brightens your day, warms your heart and starts the week off on a 'cheery thrifty, crafty note'...

...i don't know about you but my day has been brightened and my heart warmed by all this loveliness! and if you haven't yet heard of miss Tif's 'handcrafted thrifty challenge' please do pop over to her beautiful blog and read all about it...

...i shall be back in a day or two with a few pics explaining my mysterious absence this last week :)

in neutral...

...i'm loving gentle neutrals at the moment, those kind of non-colours like beige, cream, white and grey. as well as all my colourful crochet goodies, i have a few other projects on the go for myself...

...it wasn't until i was photographing them, and a few other bits'n'pieces for updating my ravelry pages, that i realised they are all in this muted colour palette!

...and all blankets too! i hadn't noticed, but i seem to be preparing myself for the colder weather already, which all seems to be a bit ludicrous as today it has been so warm, gorgeous and sunny ~ beautiful blue skies and a fabby afternoon walking along the beach with the wee man (sorry, no pics today Sam!)...

...talking of the wee man, i had intended this last blanket for him but that was before i had crocheted a single stitch ~ and now that's it's finished, it's yummy dark chocolate colour (with white chocolate swirl!) has won me over and i think i'll be keeping it for myself!
...i know, if only he had an opposable thumb! he would pick up the phone and be onto the RSPCA in a flash, reporting my cruel ways ;)

...i hope you're all having a fabby weekend too! and 'hello' to all the new faces who have popped by this last week, it's lovely to meet you all :)

happy desk thursday...

...wow! i can't believe it's thursday already, this week seems to be flying by...

...so many exciting things have been happened already and i've found so many lovely new people and places to visit in blogland...
...all of which means i have an over stimulated mind and a need to create way too many things at once! at the moment i can't decide whether i want to knit, crochet or embroider ~ so today my desk is piled high with all three in a real creative clutter :)

...i think a long soak in the tub is in order and i shall be back soon with a better peek at some of the crochet goodies i'm working on, until then my dears ~ happy desk thursday!

getting about a bit...

...that is my crochet, not me! and when i say 'getting about a bit' i mean virtually ~ yesterday two of my favourite style blogs have been so kind as to feature my crochet designs...

...first up is a huge thank you to the sweet Rachel, of Lovely Clusters, who featured wee 'norma' in her beautiful blue and green colour cluster...

...if you haven't yet heard of the Lovely Clusters blog yet then you really do need to check it out, as well as the Lovely Clusters shop which features gorgeous handmade pieces from very talented artists, designers, jewelers and photographers...

...and one of my favourite features of the shop is that you can search all products by colour to create your very own cluster, there is just something so pleasing about a whole page of items that co-ordinate ~ which is why i enjoy making so many colour co-ordinated treasuries over on etsy!
~~~
...i also want to give a huge thank you to the lovely Holly of decor8 for featuring my 'granny chic' goodies in her newly re-vamped Etsy Take Five Tuesday feature...
...i almost fell off my chair this morning when i saw it! i can't tell you how much of an honour it is to be featured on a blog that i admire so much :)
...and i just love the mosaic she put together especially for this post, it's always fascinating to see how others view my work...
~~~

...and last but not least i want to say a huge thank you to everyone who was kind enough to leave a lovely comment on either of these blog posts, or who took the time to send me a wee message of support, i appreciate them all very much and i'm not ashamed to admit i've been grinning like a cheshire cat all day!

colour your monday happy...

...with a fabulous button stash!

... by Gabrielle Kai...

...french buttons by jasna.janekovic...

...buttons by rettgrayson...

...sorting stash by monda loves......

...buttons by [alice]...

...if you're anything like me you will be swooning at the mere sight of all this loveliness! really, there is nothing more pleasing than rummaging through a big old pot of vintage buttons searching for a hidden gem! or maybe sifting through your own stash to sort them into colour and size groups... or maybe that's just me, a bit of a geek when it comes to buttons ;)

...if you have a few minutes spare today, brew yourself a cuppa and pop over to 'all colours in' and rummage through for more button beauties :)

hints of autumn...

...flickr link with the alternates...

...the weather is certainly on the turn here in scotland this week, it has rained non stop and the temperature is definitely starting to dip ~ so much so that i had to bring out a few pairs of woolly socks and one or two jumpers to keep the chill at bay!

...not that i mind, the wee man and i have been very cosy in the studio ~ him at my feet dreaming the day away and me furiously embroidering to meet my first deadline in a long while...

...1. scandi - coal black ~ lusummers, 2. Buttons and Buckles Too ~ BeautifulRust, 3. Peek a boo ~ dutchvalentine, 4. autumn perspectives ~ tinctory, 5. Type collection ~ hownowdesign, 6. Untitled ~ namolio, 7. Needle tips ~ litlnemo, 8. I dream for a living ~ *Cinnamon, 9. textured ~ Black Dog Designs...

...this year it seems i'm quite looking forward to the autumn and winter months, which is a new experience for me as i hate the cold weather ~ maybe it's because i know i'm going to have lots of quality time with my crochet hooks and knitting needles, and i can get busy with some new ideas i have whirling around my head!

...or maybe it's the thought of all those yummy casseroles and homemade soups, i do love hearty winter food :)

...or maybe it's because my mam posted this pic on flickr of her christmas cake preparations ~ yum!

...there is nothing that can lift your mood like a cheery bunch of fresh flowers and these five gorgeous pics are just the tip of the floral iceberg in the all colours in pool. because there are so many flowers in one form or another, i am sure they are going to feature highly in these weekly selections...
...i think a trip to the florist is a must today!
