desk thursday...

...i have been a busy bee today, my space has seen some colourful creativity...

...lots of little crochet flowers, a wee bit of punching, a drop of printing and a whole lot of stitching...

...and i ended up with a whole lot of lovely labels...

...which surprisingly aren't for a whole lot of granny cushions! instead they're for a whole lot of ___? well, i'm afraid that will have to wait for another day ;)

...but until then there will be one or two lovely ladies joining the granny cushion ranks in my wee etsy shop over the next few days, and this time they're square! ...i know, whatever next!?

...now, i would say this award was given to me but i think, if we're all being honest here, that it was Spanner who truly earned it ;) ...you see, the very lovely and extremely talented Sam of Matou en Peluche (Plush Tomcat) has a bit of a thing for my wee man...

...so this should really read 'your Spanner makes us smile' ;)

...anyhoo ~ if you have never met Sam before, she is an extremely talented illustrator with a passion for the art deco period. you can find prints and cards of her wonderful charcoal and pastel drawings in her etsy shop. her elegant female portraits are some of my favourites...

...and i've also got a bit of a soft spot for her adorable bird illustrations, especially the wee cardinal :)

...yep, there's nothing like a wee splash of colour to provide some inspiration on a grey, soggy monday morning (and afternoon) ~ i'm so in love with this granny blanket by sandra juto and dottieangels collection of vintage multi-coloured knitting needles...

...and finally, here's a wee teaser of my own colourful crafty collection...

...crocheted goodies as far as the eye can see ~ at least that's what if feels like in my wee studio! no matter which way i look at the moment there's some kind of crochet project that i'm working on and each one at a different stage of completion...

...and do you know what? ~ i absolutely love it!

...i have known how to crochet for as long as i can remember, but in the last year or so i have fallen in love with it all over again :) the act of actually doing it is so rhythmic and soothing, and being able to work so freely with colour is incredibly therapeutic. it's also such a versatile craft and every time i finish or start a new piece my brain is flooded with ideas and possibilities that i just want to start immediately ~ but, all in good time as i only have one pair of hands :)

...not to worry though, more pics of these lovelies will follow soon when they will be landing in my wee etsy shop...

good intentions...

...okay, so this week all my good intentions have gone completely to pot! the week got off to a really great start on monday with not just a blog post but a bit of granny cushion finishing too...

...but then i got distracted on tuesday with a trip up to St Andrews to meet some wonderful friends who i haven't seen in a wee while. although i did manage to salvage the day by finding a great little yarn shop tucked away down an alley (it wasn't a dark alley as it was bright sunny, scottish, summers day ~ try saying that in a hurry!)...

...anyhoo, my stash is now boasting a lovely lambswool and cashmere blend from this scottish company, who have only recently began producing yarns rather than just fabrics. these two colours were my favourites ~ Juno and Lissa ~ there was also a gorgeous silvery grey but that will have to wait till my next trip... *sigh*

...then on wednesday i was a good girl again and put together some tags for the previously mentioned granny cushions, i also snapped some sneaky peek pics of a few of the things i've been working on lately ~ actually i got tons of pics but most of them were rubbish due to the dreary, rainy day light :(

...and yesterday (that is thursday) i had intended to tweak those dreary pics and write a wee blog post, but i got sucked in by ravelry and flickr and the need to show off my new yarns to the world...

...anyway, there i was drooling over all the knitting, crochet and yummy yarn groups on flickr when it suddenly dawned on me that there weren't any dedicated to solid coloured yarns, my favourites... *collective gasp* ...well, what was a girl to do but start a new group?

...and there have been lots of refreshing drinks...

...probably way too much macro fun...

...lots of lazing in the sun (at the beach too, but there was no way i was risking sand in my lens!)...

...there has also been a bit of scottish culture...

...shared with family we've not seen in a very long time :)

...and there was one man and his dog getting ideas way above their station!!!

...but even though it has been a bit hot for a fur coat...

...a good time was had by all :)
